This award winning site comprises of 144 homes of which two thirds are affordable and included homes for older people, wheelchair adapted flats and houses, shared ownership homes, flats targeted towards key workers and family homes for rent with the remaining properties sold as open market housing.

TDA worked in partnership with Sovereign Housing in creating the specification for the scheme, established the concepts and ideas and approved the design decisions.  Negotiations also took place around the land disposal and outputs and objectives on the site.

Through means of sustainable construction, the site is able to achieve a low carbon footprint for the community as a whole and will minimise residents' home running costs.  The homes are designed to meet levels 3, 4 and 5 of the governments 'Code for Sustainable Homes'.  This is the highest level of housing to date and will meet certain criteria's in seven key areas - energy, water, surface water management, site waste management, household waste management, use of materials and lifetime homes.

All Code 5 homes have photovoltaic cells, smart meters, solar panels, rainwater recycling and permeable paving, high U values, excellent air tightness, significant levels of insulation and triple glazing.  Photovoltaic cells generate electricity for the residents and the solar energy generated provides them with hot water, these combined with very high levels of insulation will result in significantly reduced running costs.

Completed in August 2013, Beehfield has won a number of awards including Gold in the ‘Best Starter Home’ category at the What House? awards 2013 with the judges describing Beechfield Views as an ‘astonishing achievement’ which ‘confounds all expectations’.  2014 saw the scheme win the Michelmores ‘Residential Property of the Year 41 units or over’ and other awards have included the National Housing and Inside Housing awards.
